On Earth Day, Involvement and Truth!
Saturday marks Earth Day, a day set aside to reflect on the state –and the beauty—of our Earth. This Saturday I my heart is made glad by the efforts of our re-forming Climate Action Committee which will be represented at the Walnut Creek event with a booth on Saturday from 11 to 2 and also by having us watch the Ant and The Saturday marks Earth Day, a day set aside to reflect on the state –and the beauty—of our Earth. This Saturday I my heart is made glad by the efforts of our re-forming Climate Action Committee which will be represented at the Walnut Creek event with a booth on Saturday from 11 to 2 and also by having us watch the Ant and The Grasshopper for discussion after service on Sunday.
Perhaps these seem like small efforts and yet they represent engagement which is truly the key! So many of us are overwhelmed by the enormity of issues such as climate change and yet how wonderful to be invited into this reflection—and into action.
Tomorrow I will get up early and take some time on my daily walk to reflect on the beauty. And my heart will also be gladdened by the thought of those gathering! I will also be watching the movie so I can be part of the discussion—because learning about the issues we face always helps me feel a little less anxious.
In this week in which a small blow was given to the world of false news, I am glad for these truth-bearing opportunities. When we engage, learn and then take the actions we can, we represent part of that counter-force that says that the power to do what we can to combat these large challenges we face matters.
So take a moment to take in a mountain, and maybe visit the MDUUC table on Saturday or watch the movie for Sunday! Every little part matters when inattention is the great enemy.
