July 31: Fostering Hope, Compassion, and Justice
The sixth principle of Unitarian Universalism — “The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all” — calls us to action in order to build a heaven here on earth. One of the most compassionate ways of living out this sacred principle is to open our hearts and our homes to the children in our communities who have been subjected to abuse or neglect. In 2016, there are an estimated 62,148 children in foster care in California; 2,831 of which are from Contra Costa and Alameda counties. Join Worship Associate Trudi Frazel as we examine this radical act of social justice and its implications for our faith community.
